Gallery Talk & Demonstration

Discover the artistry and history behind the Addison Gallery of American Art's ship model collection, currently on view in the exhibition, Models as Muse: Roderick Buchanan, Christine Heibert, Jennifer and Kevin McCoy, and David Opdyke.

Tour the collection with R. Michael Wall, Director of the American Marine Model Gallery, and Erik Ronnberg, expert marine model artist, followed by a demonstration of the ship modeler's art.

This event is open to the public free of charge. Both families and adults are invited to attend!

Welcome to Blog Addison

Welcome to the Addison Gallery of American Art's Blog: Blog Addison. We hope to update this blog on a regular basis to provide the latest news to our website visitors about what's happening at the museum.

We have exciting exhibitions, events and major projects on the horizon. The highly anticipated Addison venue of William Wegman: Funney/Strange opens here April 7th. We will have an Open House in celebration of the exhibition An Impressionist Legacy: Lawrence’s White Fund Paintings on June 23rd. And, in 2008, the Addison will temporarily close to the public as we expand the museum and renovate our venerable Platt building.

Posting to the blog are three Addison staff members representing a variety of departments and subjects: Jaime DeSimone, Curatorial Fellow, will write about exhibitions and the collections; Rebecca Spolarich, Education Fellow, will write about our events and outreach programs, and I, James Sousa, Associate Registrar and the Addison's Webmaster, will write about a little of everything.
